LACHANCE, Agnes (nee Dowling)

It is with great sadness that we announce Mary Agnes Lachance passed away peacefully at the Woods Park Care Centre, Barrie on April 15th, 2023, at the age of 90. Loving mother of Michelle (Don), Christopher (Shirley), Guy, Matthew (Page), Lisa (Gordon), and Jean-Paul (Maria). Agnes was predeceased by ex-husband, Reginald Lachance and their son, Christopher. Cherished grandmother of Travis (Egda), Breana (Mike), Jamie (Sandra), Adam, Braden, Rochelle, Nicole, Colleen, Christine, Matthew, Connor, Chantal, and Celeste, and great grandmother of Sophia, Evelyn, and Lily. Agnes was predeceased by her sister, Theresa (Edward) Marion and is survived by her sister, Evelyn (Armand) Marion and numerous nieces and nephews.

Agnes cherished spending time with her many grandchildren, bringing joy to their lives through hilarious stories, games, and laughter. She was a woman of strong faith who was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for much of her life.  She enjoyed participating in social events all her life and was awarded the “Single Parent of the Year” community award while raising her six children.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Thursday, May 4th from 7 PM to 9 PM. A mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie, on May 5th at 10 AM with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Following the mass, guests are invited to a reception luncheon at the church.

We want to especially thank the Woods Park Care Centre health professionals for their care and kindness to Mom in her last years.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Agnes’s memory may be made to the Catholic Women’s League of St Mary’s Parish of Barrie . This is greatly appreciated by the family.
