Alan passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2021, just shy of his 87th birthday at the IOOF Seniors Homes.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie, their son Bill, daughter-in-law Lynn, grandson Darryl, his wife Mandy, granddaughter Suzanne and great grandchildren, Maguire and Beckett. He is predeceased by his brothers Gordon, Doug (both KIA during WW2) and Grant.

Alan was born and raised in Cookstown and although he spent over 38 years in pharmaceutical sales, living in the Ottawa area and Aurora, he remained deeply devoted to his hometown, participating annually in the Remembrance Day ceremony and never missing the opportunity to visit with friends from the area.

Alan and Marjorie traveled, held dinner parties, and made friends all over the world. He was a master at six degrees of separation before that was even a thing, and never knew a stranger.

He was deeply devoted to his family and one true love, Marjorie, however, becoming a grandfather in his mid-40s was one of his proudest accomplishments and a great grandfather in his early 70s was the cherry on his life.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and as Marjorie said, there's a blank spot now where he used to be, but it's not completely empty because the love and family he has left behind will keep it filled.

We are grateful for the excellent care Alan received at the IOOF.

There will be a ceremony held for the family at the interment at the St. John’s Anglican Cemetery in Cookstown when weather permits. If desired, donations in Alan’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice.

Condolences
