Lennox, Allan
October 13, 1925 – February 28, 2017
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Allan, loving husband of Margaret (Madill) for 61 years. Devoted father of Michael and Wendy (Allan) Graham. Cherished grandfather of Valerie and Paul Graham. Survived by his brother Gordon (Nan) of Ottawa, sister-in-law Gwen Lennox of Barrie and brother-in-law Bruce (Sandy) Madill of Bond Head. Predeceased by his brother Jack and dear cousin Roy (Evelyn) Lennox. Allan was born on the family farm in Painswick, where Lennox park now stands. He joined the air force in World War II and was assigned to an RAF crew on a Lancaster bomber as the mid-upper gunner, Squadron 115. His crew was the first to complete 40 missions. On returning home, he continued to live on the family farm until the mid 1970’s. Allan volunteered in many organizations including the Innisfil Farmers Credit Union, Junior Farmers and Boy Scouts. He was the lay reader at St. Paul’s Anglican Church for 50 years. He was known for his love of horses, friendliness, warm smile, and love of children. Many people will remember chatting with Allan when he drove charter busses for PMCL or on Barrie Transit. He has spent his last years at Roberta Place. Friends and family will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Road, Barrie, Ontario on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm. A service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 3294 Paul’s Cres Street, Barrie, on Saturday, March 4, 2017 starting at 1:30pm. Reception to follow at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home. Donations in Allan’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church and are appreciated by the family. Online memories and condolences may be forwarded through www.steckleygooderham.com
