Angelo Mongillo passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28th, 2025 at the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf in Barrie in his 85th year. Angelo is now reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife Carmela and his brothers Americo Mongillo (Ada) and Giuseppe Mongillo (Angelina). Loving father of Angela Pisani (Bruno), Pasquale Mongillo (Maria) and Giuseppe Mongillo (Anna). Cherished nonno of Salvatore (Maria), Stefanie, Julian, Angelo, Adrian-Joey (Alysha), Bianca, Massimo and Marisa. Proud bisnonno of Raffaele, Matteo and Zyla-Rhea. Angelo will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Angelo was born in Amorosi, Benevento, Italy in 1940. Emigrating from Italy by boat, he landed in Halifax in 1961 and travelled to Toronto where he married Carmela, his beloved wife of 60 years. Together they built an amazing life and family. Angelo loved spending time with his family and friends, tending to his garden, making wine, playing cards and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his many family members and friends.
Angelo and his family would like to thank the staff at the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf for the 8 years of amazing care and support they provided to Angelo.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at the St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Ln., Barrie on the following day on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025 at 11 am. Entombment to follow at the Highland Memorial Gardens, 33 Memory Gardens Ln, North York.
