With  deep sadness we announce the passing of Aniceto Doret of Barrie on January 8, 2025 at the age of 95.  He was the beloved husband of Rosa for 72 years.  Loved dad to Walter (Brenda), Franca (Brant), and Nadia (Greg).  Proud Nonno to Steven (Geri), Tara (Simon), Mike (Sarah), Vanessa (Trevor), Jenna (Denver), Trent (Emily), Jessica, Jaclyn (John) and Bis Nonno to Ryker, Sienna, Leo, Mila, Keaton, River, Hudson, Elodie, Gordon, Joan, and Bruce.

Born in Ramuscello, Italy, Aniceto was one of ten children.  He came to Canada in 1953 in search of a better life for his family.  Rosa and young Walter followed later.  They first lived in Toronto, where they raised their son and two daughters until moving to Barrie in 1963.  He was a master plasterer by trade and very skilled at his job.  He loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting, going for long walks.  His family was always priority, and he loved spending time with them.  He was a very independent man and even drove until the age of 94.

Aniceto made many trips back to Italy, but it was Canada that he called home.  He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and, every year without fail, would profess that this is the year they win.

Cremation has taken place, with private family arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.

The family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Whispering Pines Retirement Home and to the dedicated staff and Doctors at RVH for the excellent care he received.

Husband / Dad/ Nonno and Bis Nonno will always be dearly missed but never FORGOTTEN.

If desired, donations in Aniceto’s memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
