Arthur Turnbull
Lieutenant (N) Arthur Turnbull CD, Retired - October 5th, 1917 to May 9th, 2009. A Veteran of WW11 and a resident of Victoria Village, Barrie, ON. It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Arthur in his 92nd year. He was the most
loving, caring and devoted husband to Margaret, his wife of 61 years, who
survives him. Dearly loved and cherished father of Lynn (Fred Jones), Laurie
(Renée Nieminski), Ian (Lise Huneault), Ann, Leesa (David Guergis) and Kristi
(Jim Gilliland). The proudest and exceptional grandfather of Anissa (Steve),
Shana (Chris), Catherine, Haley, Adam, Shelby, Charles, Nathan, Wyatt,
Cameron and Kate. Great grandfather to Mara and Ella. He is survived by his
sisters- in-law, May and Marjorie both of Scotland.

Arthur was born in 1917 in London, England, the only child of Margaret and
Harry Turnbull. He immigrated to Canada as a young child with his mother and
grew up in Sarnia, Ontario. In 1940 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and
retired as a Lieutenant (N) from CFB Borden in 1970. Upon his retirement from
the Canadian Armed Forces, Arthur joined the then Ministry of Community and
Social Services in the capacity of Director of Vocational Services, at Edgar, ON.

Arthur was a friend to all and he enjoyed life to its fullest. His greatest love was
his family, music and gardening. He will be sorely missed along with his sense of humor, smile and above all his generosity and kindness will be remembered by all those who knew him. We are grateful and indebted to Arthur’s caregivers Louise, Vicki and Laura for their loving and compassionate care which enriched Arthur’s life.

Friends may call at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, ON on Friday May 15, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 16, 2009 with funeral service to follow in the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. Condolences may be forwarded to the family through www.steckleygooderham.com.
