Hawkins, Audrey Jean (née Kennedy)
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Audrey Jean Hawkins (nee Kennedy) announces her passing at Hospice Simcoe on April 3, 2021. Loving wife of James, beloved Mother of Michael (Marlene), Kerry Lee and Christopher. The best Nana to Kristy, Cheri, Holly, Shannon, Andrew, Aidan, William, Edward, Richard and James and adored Great-Grandmother to Luca, Daniel, Hudson, Landon, Scarlett & Everley. Born in Toronto on November 23, 1928 Audrey was one of 13 children of Alec & Jesse Kennedy. Audrey grew up, attended school, married and raised her 3 children in Toronto. Working for Marks & Spencer Canada in the head office Audrey managed work and home life like a champ! Audrey was a force and was a superwoman in all areas of her life. Retiring to Barrie, Ontario Audrey enjoyed a quieter life and along with her husband they volunteered their services at Grove Park Home tending to the beautiful gardens. They attended church services each Sunday at Collier Street United Church and spent quality time with Kennedy and Hawkins family members. As Audrey fought a valiant battle with dementia and the loss of her eyesight, she remained a sweet, compassionate and loving woman right to the very end. The family thanks Hospice Simcoe and Dr. Alex Dickson for everything. Audrey lived much longer than expected because of their compassionate care. A special thank you to Garrett at the Hospice, his amazing personality, TLC, guitar playing and singing gave Audrey many reasons to smile during her last months. She even sang along until dementia took her voice. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home Chapel, 30 Worsley Street., Barrie on Friday, April 9th, 2021 at 1 p.m., with livestream available to the public. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated. We take great comfort in knowing Audrey is now reunited with her loving siblings, Mom & Dad. Fly sweet Audrey Jean, you earned your wings. Forever with us.

Condolences
