Peacefully passed at the Amica Little Lake Retirement Home on Monday, May 20th, 2024, at the age of 94. Predeceased by her beloved husband Stan (2021). Loving mother of Susan Ptasiuk (Ronald), Janet Howard (the late Don), Scott Brown (Patricia) and the late Linda Tucker. Proud grandmother of Jay (Victoria), Jennifer (Jason), Jeffrey (Erin), Evan (Melissa), Drew (Robyn), Clinton (Adrienne), Mitchell (Amanda), Kristen (Kirby), Royce (Natalie) and Lindsay. Great grandmother of Vivian, Eve, Estelle, Ashley, Bailey, Benjamin, Charlotte, Elysse, Kai, Hayden, Audrey, Ella, Brianna, Hayley, Robbie, Harrison, and Peyton. Will be missed by extended family members and dear friends.

Born in Toronto in 1929 Audrey lived though almost a century of change. She survived bad times but also enjoyed many years of the best of times. She was a homemaker a factory worker a Becker Milkmaid and finally spent the balance of her working life at Eaton’s (Dept store) taking part yearly in the renown Eaton Santa Clause Parade as a member of the choir float, happily singing Xmas carols to entertain the crowds. She pretty much came home daily with an Eaton’s bag as she cruised the store on her lunch (we teased her that the familiar bag was her briefcase) When she retired, she became an enthusiastic member of the “Snowbirds Club” always together with the love of her life Stan. A determined and independent (some might say feisty) person, in the Sixties in our neighbourhood she was the only Mom who could drive. I remember coming home from school she would be playing our music. Among her favourites, the Rolling Stones. (yep, the Stones) and Rod Stewart. She was a lifetime fan of Rod-she thought he was sexy (oh my). A long life such as hers has so many many stories full of fun and sadness and amazing moments for us. In later years she tried getting used to giving Alexa instructions but for some reason insisted on calling her Alisha. She was an avid reader of murder mysteries as she demanded “ALISHA READ MY BOOK” or “BE QUIET “to stop. She eventually got control of her; Alexa didn’t stand a chance. We will all miss you Mom.

In keeping with Audrey’s wishes cremation has taken place with arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. Audrey will be laid to rest with her late husband in the coming months at the Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Memorial donations may be made to the Southlake Regional Health Centre and are greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared via www.steckleygooderham.com
