Parnell, Barbara. Peacefully after a brief illness, at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Saturday May 23, 2009. Beloved wife of Bill for 56 wonderful years of marriage. Loving mother of Glen (Christine) and Shaun (Kim) and dear grandmother of Lauren, Ryan, Dylan and Liam. Her life-long extended “family of friends†will greatly miss her unconditional love, joie de vivre, and generous spirit. Barbara was born in Cobourg on April 6, 1932, and was a proud Montrealer with superb piano talent in both jazz and classical disciplines. After raising her family in Beaconsfield Q.C., Barbara and Bill moved to Bolton in 1980, where she volunteered on the Bolton Agricultural Fair board. She and Bill enjoyed many winters in Englewood, Florida with fellow snowbirds. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no service. Visitors are welcome at a memorial reception hosted by her family at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Tuesday May 26 from 5-8:30pm. (705-721-9921).
