It is with deep sadness that the family of Bernardina Maria Hendrika van der Voort (Bernie), announces her passing after a brief illness, on Monday September 14, 2020, at the age of 74. Bernie was predeceased by her sister Margaret. She was the daughter of Adrianus van der Voort and Maria Batenburg and with her parents and 7 siblings, was born in Leiden, Nederland’s.

A Closed (due to Covid-19 restrictions) Funeral Service in Memory of Bernie will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2020 at 2:00 pm., and a Visitation on Friday October 2nd from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and both will be held at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St, Barrie, ON L4M 1L4.

At this time, the Friday October 2nd 7:00 – 9:00 pm visitation is open but will be restricted inside to government regulations.

The Family is requesting that no flowers be forwarded. The Family will be setting up a Fund for PLAN Canada, a charity very important to Bernie, and we will forward that information and update this site as we gather these details.

Bernie has a strong list of dedicated accounting clients she diligently continued to serve up until her passing. They will all miss her services.

Gardening, cooking and feeding the birds were Bernie’s simple pleasures. Consider planting a perennial in your garden, setting up a bird feeder or enjoying a glorious meal in honour of Bernie’s spirit.

Condolences
