With great pain, the family of Brian Higgins announce his unexpected passing on February 13, 2026 at the age of 66.
Beloved husband of Andrea Higgins. Honoured father of Tim, Patrick, and Jessica. Cherished grandfather of Jaxon, Oze, and Jezryn. Will be sadly missed by his brothers Keenan and Kirk, as well as his many long-time friends and members of the community whose lives he touched during his short 66 years.
Brian was born in Brantford, Ontario on January 27, 1960 to Jim and Noreen Higgins. He met Andrea in 1983 and they married in 1989. Together, they ran Sigrids Bakery for 20 years before retiring at the end of 2024 to enjoy life.
Brian was a no-nonsense, ‘do-it-yourself’ handyman who would always fix everything for everyone, but rarely without an accompanying detailed explanation of how to do it right. He loved gardening and grew the most beautiful sunflowers. His passion was windsurfing and he enjoyed his last great run while on vacation with Andrea in the Cayman Islands.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 2 PM until the time of service in the Chapel at 3 PM. Guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the lounge.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated by the family.
