Brian’s family is heartbroken to announce his passing on February 17th, 2019 at the age of 70 after a brief illness. He is now in God’s hands. Cherished husband of Ardele for 47 years. Predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Eleanor Stokell. Beloved brother of David Stokell (Susan) and Donna Kennedy (Tom). Loving brother-in-law to Marnie Sawyer (Norm), Cheryl Fortier, Janet Soulliere (Darren) and David Soulliere (Faye). He was a devoted, fun-loving “Pokaroo” uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Brian’s impressive sales career spanned over 40 years in automotive and I.T. sectors, with his last position being delivery specialist at Mercedes Benz Barrie. Brian was happiest when travelling the world with Ardele, soaring above the clouds in airplanes (especially a bi-plane on his 50th birthday), taking flight in a hot air balloon, walking along sea beds while SNUBA diving at Coral World in the Caribbean and cycling down hairpin roads on Maui’s Haleakala Volcano at breakneck speeds. He was a die-hard “Trekkie” who possessed impressive memorabilia and an avid enthusiast of the Avro Arrow, as well as WWII military aircraft -- particularly the Lancaster in which his father served as navigator in England and Burma. Brian’s booming voice, megawatt smile, enthusiasm, humour and incredible client-servicing skills will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to Doctors Martin, Zhou and Tailor, together with the entire angelic nursing team at Royal Victoria’s ICU, Stroke and E.R. Units for the exemplary care of Brian and the non-stop compassion displayed to all his family and friends.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m., with service being held on Thursday, February 21st at 11 a.m. in the Chapel, followed by a reception gathering in the Lounge and interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
