Mongillo, Carmela (Nee Nero)
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre - Barrie in her 79th year. Carmela of Barrie, Beloved wife of Angelo for over 60 years. Loving mother of Angela (Bruno Pisani), Pasquale (Maria) Mongillo and Giuseppe (Anna) Mongillo. Cherished Nonna of Salvatore (Maria), Stefanie, Julian, Angelo, Adrian, Bianca, Massimo and Marisa. Proud Bisnonna of Raffaele Giuseppino. Caring sister of late Antonio (Assunta) Nero, Ada (late Americo Mongillo) and Filomena (John Visco). Carmela will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Carmela was born in Puglianello, Benevento, Italy in 1943. She moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina with her family in 1951 and immigrated to Canada in 1959. She married Angelo in 1961 and together they built an amazing life for their family. Carmela loved spending time with and caring for her family, knitting teddy bears for her grandchildren and gardening. She will be deeply missed by all. Arrangements entrusted to Steckley – Gooderham Funeral Home – 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to come to the funeral Home or watch the visitation on our livestream service on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 2pm - 4pm & 7pm- 9pm. A private family mass is being held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church where it will also be live streamed through the church website. Interment to follow the service at Highland Memory Garden - North York. Under the current guidelines, we can only accommodate up to 10 people in the Funeral home at any one time, this will be on a first come, first served basis. Thank you for your understanding.
