GREEN, Carol Lynn

Carol passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie following a brief, brave and never “giving up” battle with cancer. She was 47 years old. Born March 11, 1963 in Oakville, she was the daughter of Victor (deceased) and Sylvia Firman. Born and raised in Oakville, Carol attended Gordon E. Perdue High School and then graduated from Sheridan College where she earned her Law and Security Diploma. She began her career with the Ontario Government as a Corrections Officer in Hamilton and then moved to Barrie where her family lived. There, she met her husband Michael while working with him at the Barrie Jail. Following the birth of their daughter, Rebecca, Carol chose to be a stay at home mom. Carol will be fondly remembered for her “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff” approach to life. She loved camping, being outdoors, animals, country music and most importantly, her family. Carol was a loving wife to her husband Michael, devoted mother to their daughter Rebecca. She is survived by her sister and best friend Kris Thompson (Bruce), mother Sylvia Firman and grandmother Mary Batuik. A celebration of her life will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Thursday, April 8, 2010. Family and friends will be received at 10:00 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 am. A special “thank you” to the doctors, nurses and staff on 3 North B at RVH for the exceptional care they provided and the many hugs. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Barrie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family. Condolences may be forwarded through www.steckleygooderham.com.
