“Alone with none but Thee, my God, I journey on my way; what need I fear when Thou art near, O King of night and day?" (St. Columbkille)

Columbkelle “Colum” Maloney was born in Barrie, Ontario on June 22nd, 1939, the sixth of nine children born to James and Sarah Maloney, Irish immigrants. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Kay, and his siblings James, Brigid, John, Patricia, William, Gerard, and Daniel. His brother Conrad survives him. He is deeply loved and fondly remembered by all his family.

Columbkelle means ‘Church dove’ and Colum spent much of his life as a missionary of peace, bringing the message of serenity and fellowship to many, many people. He was whole-heartedly committed to assisting his fellow travelers find their truth through sobriety. Lasting friendships with the McNeil and Bak families provided the strength and devotion he so dearly cherished.

Colum spent several years working at the Chrysler automotive plant in Windsor and later settled in Hamilton where he worked as an addiction counselor at Bold-Park Lodge. Whoever spoke to him had his undivided attention. He was a devout Catholic and faithful member of St. Patrick’s parish in Hamilton. Special thanks to Dundurn Place for their kindness, care, and support.
