He moved his family to Canada in 1950 where he became head of Security for the Georgian Bay Region of Ontario Hydro.
David believed strongly in community involvement. He was an elder in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian and a founding member and elder in Westminster Presbyterian. He was on the Barrie Town Council and the Barrie Board of Education. He was a dedicated Scoutmaster and Rover leader for years. David was also one of the original members of the Kempenfeldt Lodge of the Masonic Order and a Kiwanian. Many people benefitted from his generosity and advice.
He had known poverty as a boy and was quick to help those in need.
The family would like to thank those who cared for David at Wood’s Park Care Centre, The Royal Victoria Hospital and Leisure World Barrie in the last months.
In keeping with David’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. David’s ashes will repose at the Barrie Union Cemetery.
