MARTIN, Donald Arthur,BA, LLB – Passed away suddenly at the age of 76 onTuesday, January 24, surrounded by his family. Survived by his wifeJoan of 50 years, daughters Ann (Greg), Carol (Geoff), and Joy (Scott).Loving "Grandon" to Andrew, Katie, Charlotte and Amy. Donwas born in Port Arthur,Ontario (nowThunder Bay) andeducated at Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, McMaster University and Osgoode LawSchool. Heremained an active and colourful figure in the legal and businesscommunities of Northwestern Ontario fromthe 1960s through the 1990s. He was a founding partner of the lawfirm Martin Scrimshaw Scott, and an adventurous entrepreneur. Don wasa skilled pilot who flew widely in his beloved Piper Cub, a carenthusiast who rallied in his Morgan whenever possible, as well as a duckhunter, dog breeder and world traveller. Closer to home, he taughtbusiness law at Lakehead University,provided legal advice to non-profit organizations, and supported a numberof local arts and historical groups. In recent years, he and Joandivided their time among the family camp at Two Island Lake near Thunder Bay, and residences in Barrie and Tucson. Don wasa man of strong principles, passionate beliefs and contrarianperspectives. He leaves behind many dear friends, colleaguesand business associates. His marriage and family always camefirst, and he will be deeply missed by all. Remembrance gatheringswill be held at a later date in Thunder Bay, Ontarioand Tucson, Arizona.
