Don “Mac” McKechnie passed away peacefully December 4, 2013, just before his 92nd birthday, at his apartment in Heritage Place, with family at his side. The love of his life, Jean McKechnie, passed away October 7, 2011, just 2 years ago. Don was the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by his sisters, Velma and Vivian, brother Lloyd, and twin brothers, Arnold and Harold. He is survived by sons Hugh (Annalee) and Brian (Shelley), grandchildren Kyle (Jennifer), Daryl, Tara Lynn and Scott, great grandchildren Owen, Sarah, Simon, Madison, and Briana, and many nieces and nephews. Mac lived most of his life in Chapleau, where he was a conductor on the CPR. At age 65, he and his Jeannie moved to Sault Ste. Marie for 24 years, and then to Heritage Place, the IOOF Retirement Home in Barrie. A memorial celebration will be held at I.O.O.F. Heritage Place, 20 Brooks Street, Barrie on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. with gathering from 1-2 p.m. Special thanks to the many PSWs and RNs, the Heritage Place administration and IOOF staff volunteers for the care and friendship they gave Mac. In lieu of flowers Donald would love to see donations go to the I.O.O.F. Heritage Place/Manor in Barrie.

Condolences
