Passed peacefully at her home in Barrie on June 13th, 2024 just shy of her 91st birthday. Loving wife of the late John (2019) for 66 years. Beloved mother of Randy and Greg (Sally). Cherished grandmother of Lindsey (Ryan), Daniel and Lauren. Will be sadly missed by many extended family members and dear friends.

Doris grew up on the family farm in Churchill. She loved being with the animals. They had a pony which she rode and it would sometimes follow her to school, a pig which lived in and out of the house. It also had a bed by the wood stove.

After meeting and marrying her husband Johnny, who was an avid outdoors man, Doris and he began fishing and camping which continued most of their lives. Doris, Johnny and their kids camped and fished all over Ontario with friends and family. They joined the Canadian Family Camping Federation (CFCF) – The Barrie Boomerangs. This is were Doris started playing horseshoe and became pretty good and won quit a few tournaments with her partners. 5-pin bowling was a passion for Doris and loved playing the game with friends and strangers. She was also a very good bowler with many awards won. When the decision was made not to travel to camp they got an on site-trailer where they spent a lot of time with grand kids, family and friends.

Later in life Doris thoroughly enjoyed her time at Parkview Centre and carpet bowling at the Allandale Centre. When Doris had some down time, she was often found knitting an arrangement of items that her and her family held near and dear.

The family would also like to take this opportunity to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care provided at home by Home Instead staff members; Deb, Nancy, Jesse, Javanna, Michelle and Nupur.
