Born November 2, 1936 in Barrie ON, Doris Jean Odd came into this world like a house on fire and never looked back. Although she is pre-deceased by her parents Benjamin and Pearl Odd), and her 3 sisters Norma Harris, Shirley Putnam and Francis Davis, she married the love of her life and man of her dreams on June 25, 1955, and Doris and Maurice (deceased 2007) rode off into the sunset on a candy apple red Harley motorcycle, until the kids started coming along with Stan (BC), Teresa (ON), and Grant (ON, deceased 2022), and the red Harley was retired for a family life. Doris shared her love of family with ALL of her family, with nieces and nephews all over the country; loved all the children in the neighbourhood on Peel Street; then came along her two grandchildren, Nicholas (Kerry, BC), and Molly Forget (Tim, ON), followed by 12 “GGs” for whom her love grew even more; Brody, Sophia, Heidi, Ezra, Olivia, and Tori, Curtis, Mikayla, Conner, twins Alexander and Anthony, and Mason. Daughter Teresa’s deep and loving bond with her mummy spanned Teresa’s entire life, more so following dad Mitch’s passing in 2007, when Teri & Doris became partners in crime, traveling together and visiting far lands such as Paris France, the Caribbean, an Alaskan cruise, Las Vegas, Florida, New Jersey, and Canada’s own East Coast on a 14-day driving expedition. Niece Julie Haughton was a loving support to Doris, and that love was returned every day. Doris’ 8 years at Chartwell Whispering Pines Retirement in Barrie resulted in numerous friendships, and those friends are grateful for Doris coming into their lives. Love, laughter, and daily phone calls became something Teri & Doris cherished, but the passing of Doris on Tuesday November 21, 2023 at Hospice Barrie, having made it to her 87th birthday November 2nd, has devastated Teri and life will never be the same for her and all those who loved her. There will be no funeral at the request of Doris, but a Celebration of Life will follow in the Spring, followed by interment at Barrie Union Cemetery beside her loving husband of 51 years Maurice, and son Grant.  In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Doris can be made to Hospice Simcoe or the charity of your choice.
