TREADWELL, Dorothy Agnes (nee Norris)
Dorothy Agnes Treadwell, daughter of the late Gertrude and Cecil Norris, passed away in Lethbridge, Alberta, on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 in her 90th year. Dorothy Treadwell, formerly of Barrie, was an active member of the visual arts community. Dot, as she was known, was a charter executive member of the Barrie Art Club, vociferous supporter of the MacLaren Art Centre while being a fine artist in her own right. Dot received a number of awards through out her career and helped orchestrate the Huronia Festival of the Arts, the forerunner of Kempenfest.
Dorothy is survived by her loving son Brian Norris Treadwell and his wife Carol of Lethbridge. Cherished grandmother of Matthew and Patrick. Dorothy is predeceased by her brother William Fredrick Norris and his wife Eileen. Lovingly remembered by her nephew William J. Norris and nieces Erryle George and Fredda French and their families.
The family will receive friends at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Friday, August 14th, 2009 at 10 AM. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 11 o’clock with a reception to follow. Private Interment to take place at the Aurora Cemetery. In memoriam donations to the MacLaren Art Centre or the Heart & Stroke Association would be appreciated by the family.
