Tenute: Dorothy Eveline
On Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie Ontario, Dorothy Eveline Tenute, beloved wife of Frederick James Tenute (deceased), and mother to Rose-Marie Mace, Mary-Ellen Love, Margaret-Ann Baniulis, James and Dorothy Tenute; grandmother to Carrie-Anne Boutcher, Krista-Ann Mogk, Miranda Ricci and Mitchell Baniulis; great grandmother to Sarah and Eric Boutcher, and Jessica Mogk, slipped peacefully into the heavens at the age of 91. They say that a child chooses their parents. If this is truly the case, then the smartest decision we have ever made, and will ever likely make, happened when Dorothy Eveline Tenute became our mother. She was our rock, guardian, caregiver, teacher, companion, best friend, and so much more. She was undeniably the most gentle, kindest soul a child could ever hope to have as a parent. She was a devout wife to our father, who always put the interest of her family before that of her own. Her heart ran deeper than any ocean that we have ever known. Like our father, she always found time to tend to God’s smaller creatures be they squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, stray cats and a multitude of birds as they graced her back porch looking for a hand out. She’d love to walk the neighborhood and stop along the way, certain to give the neighbors’ dog their customary treat and a hardy pat on the head. All who knew her loved Dorothy and many will miss her. But for us few, she will remain forever in ours hearts as the best mom any child could have hoped for. Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie Ontario, on Wednesday, September 23rd at 10:00 AM. The interment of remains will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Avenue, Toronto, ON. Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Barrie Humane Society or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA – Barrie Branch) would be appreciated.
