It is with a sad and heavy heart, that we announce the passing of Duane Patfield at the age of 75 on Friday, May 24th, 2019 at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie. Loving husband of Sylvia (nee Goreing). Honoured father of Jenny, Jody, Chris and Warren (Shelley), and father-in-law to Sheri. Cherished grandfather to Taylor, Zach, Payton, Laurrin, Easton, Gavin and Dalton. Survived by his brother Robert (Jill). Duane was an avid golfer and member of the Barrie Country Club and Riverwood Golf Club in Florida. He was a happy-go-lucky guy who enjoyed his Canadian friends as well as his new American friends he made while vacationing in Florida. He was also proud of his family and loved the grandchildren to bits. Duane enjoyed many successes as an entrepreneur. He was the owner/operator of Golden Technologies and the first to distribute Golden’s medical assistance devices in Canada. In his final week of life, Duane enjoyed wonderful support and care from the staff of Hospice Simcoe. They were not only compassionate and caring of him but also toward his entire family, often taking the time to hold or pray with them.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 from 7 – 9 p.m. and on Friday, May 31st from 11:30 a.m. until the time we celebrate Duane’s life in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception in the Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online memories and condolences may be forwarded via www.steckleygooderham.com
