Duncan McColl Paterson (1938 - 2014)
With deep sadness, the family of Dr. Duncan Paterson announces his passing on Friday, June 27th after a brief illness. He will be greatly missed by his wife Marjorie. Much loved father of Iain (Chris), Ross and Bryher (Peter), step-daughters Jennifer (Sean) and Lana. Survived by brothers Jim, Rob and Joe with whom he shared a great friendship. Proud grandpa to Daniel, Katherine, Finn and Harper. Duncan was a respected surgeon at Royal Victoria Hospital and loved his work. He was also passionate about sailing, Formula One racing, and working on his vintage Jaguar. Duncan was on the Board of Gilda's Club, in addition to being very involved with the Grey and Simcoe Forresters, a reflection of his deep respect for those who serve in the Military. The family is deeply appreciative of the excellent care he received at RVH. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gilda's Club (Simcoe Muskoka) or Hospice Simcoe would be appreciated.
Family and friends will be received, Wednesday, July 2nd, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie. A celebration of Duncan's life will be held on Thursday, July 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Barrie Country Club, 635 St. Vincent Street North. Donations to Gilda's Club
