SPENCE: Edith Clarinda (nee Somerville)
1915-2009

Died peacefully Sunday, November 29, 2009, exactly thirteen years to the
day after the death of her beloved husband Robert Omand Spence (1913-
1996). Edith was born in St. Mary’s Ontario and lived her life there, in
Toronto, in Florida, in Atwood, and in Nine Mile Lake near Torrance in
Muskoka. Edith was a strong formidable woman who believed in equity and
fair play long before it was fashionable. Her love of travel and the spoken
word were evident in her poetry and stories. She will be missed. Edith is
survived by her three children, six grandchildren and fourteen great
grandchildren. They are as follows: Clarinda Hamilton of Minesing, her
daughter Leigh and husband Kevin MacDonald and their three children Jordan, Sarah and Graydon; her oldest son Robert S. Spence and his wife Jo-Anne of Martin River, their three children; Cheri Boersen and her husband John, their three children Ryan, Skylar and Kaitlyn all of Collingwood; Sean Spence, his wife Tina and their three children Kyle, Lucas and Samantha of St. Mary’s; Bob and Denise Spence and their three children T.J., Jennifer and Meagan; her youngest child Don Spence and his wife Bonnie live in Atwood while their oldest Lori Spence is in Toronto and his youngest Craig Spence and his wife Catherine and children Tyler and Ryan live in Oakville. A memorial service will be held on December 6th at the Atwood Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. A time for memories and stories will follow after the service.
