MacDonnell, Deacon Edward (Ted) (ret'd OPP D/Sgt)
August 2, 1936 – September 14, 2011
Raised in Belleville Ontario, Ted began his career with the OPP in 1963 finishing in Orillia, OPP GHQ with Security Branch in 1994. Ted and Cheryl had 52 incredible years together. During that time, Ted completed his BA from Queens University while a member of the OPP. Ted became an ordained Deacon in 1992, and served as a Homilist with Chalice, a Catholic charity close to his heart. His liturgical bases were Holy Cross Parish in East York, Guardian Angles Parish in Orillia and St. John Vianney Parish in Barrie. Ted developed CMML Leukemia and we were blessed to have had 32 months with him. Cheryl, daughters Janet and Virginia, granddaughters Dakota and Devyn and grandson Zachary held Ted as he peacefully passed away at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minets Point Rd. On Friday from 5-8 PM.. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Vianney Church, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie on Saturday morning, September 17th at 10 o'clock followed by cremation.
