Elaine Mary Murphy passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2015 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Michael James Murphy and loving mother to Ronald and Mary Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Linda and Arnie Ivsins, Jeffery Murphy and Anne Stanway, Dennis and MaryAnn Murphy, Brian Murphy and Kelly Hobart and Kimberly Murphy. Dear grandmother to Becky (Sarah), Aaron (Jennifer), Gerard (Jessica), Claire, William, Gregory, Dylan, Jimmy and Brandon. Proud great grandmother to Liam, Ronan, Holden and Bailey.

She will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters, Maurice and Marion McBride, Madeleine Schlensker, Jeannette McBride, Raymond and Wendy McBride and her sister-in-law, Ruth McBride. She is reunited in eternal rest with her parents, Justin and Margaret McBride, her brother, Joseph McBride and sister, Bernice Potvin, her children, Paul and Margaret.

Elaine was the warm, witty and welcoming heart for her large circle of family and friends. After raising her own family and being actively involved in St. Michael’s Parish in Fort Erie, she and her devoted husband returned to their hometown of Barrie and renovated a large home for their retirement, travelled together and created the memories that will now comfort us in our loss. She will be remembered for her beautiful creative spirit that taught us you can take scraps and make beautiful quilts.

Family and friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley
Street, Barrie, on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at
St. Mary's Church on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10 am. Interment to follow at St. Mary's
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family through
