Peacefully passed at the Woods Park Long Term Care on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at the age of 84 years. Beloved wife of William “Bill” Tate of 64 years. Loving mother of Timothy Tate, Scott Tate (Keith Trudell), Nicole Gillingwater (Jeffery) and the late Jody Tate (1971). Dear grandmother of Kailyn Tate. Will be missed by extended family members and dear friends.
Elaine was a retired long-time employee of Bell Canada. Elaine was a devoted servant of God through a variety of ministries at St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed traveling to the sunny south, especially Hawaii and Arizona during the winter months.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, February 28th, 2025 from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at the St. Mary’s Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 10 am. Guests are invited to remain for a reception following the Mass in the Church Hall. Interment to follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County or to Hospice Simcoe and are greatly appreciated by the family.
