Knight, Evelyn
At the IOOF Seniors’ Home, Barrie on March 7, 2013 in her 102nd year. Evelyn, dear daughter of Ernest Robert and Ada (Tyler) Jeffery. Beloved wife of the late Harold (1985). Wonderful sister and best friend of the late Kathleen Jeffery. Loving mother of Nancy and Paul DeVillers, Graham and Stephanie Knight and Alan (deceased). Loving grandmother of Michael, Alan and Jocelyn DeVillers; Casey, Jeffery and Andrew Knight and Laura Coward. Special great-grandmother to Jesse DeVillers. Evelyn loved life! She was quick witted and possessed a wonderful sense of humour. An avid crossword puzzle and Scrabble player, she had a first rate vocabulary. A Bible scholar and gifted Bible teacher, (Christian Women’s Club, church groups), she was sustained throughout her life by her strong faith. She was a life-long member of Leaside Bible Chapel. Even in her final years, her illness did not prevent her from making many friends and winning the hearts of those with whom she came in contact. She was one of a kind, and we miss her already. Friends and family are invited to join us on Tuesday, March 12 for visitation at 1 p.m. followed by a service to celebrate Evelyn’s life at 3 p.m. at the Steckley- Gooderham Funeral Homes, 30 Worsley St. Barrie. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tyndale University College or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Thanks to the caring staff at IOOF Homes with special thanks to Laura Amon and her Caring for Seniors staff. You provided comfort and joy to her final years.
