MURPHY, FRANCIS EARLE
age 93 passed away peacefully on July 1 , 2012 at Woods Park Care Centre in Barrie Ontario. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 17, 1919 and served in the Merchant Marine during WW11 and was honourably discharged as Chief Petty Officer. He resided in Barrie from 1948 and was past president of the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic church along with his wife Maisie. He is survived by his son Greg, daughter-in-law Gail of Madeira Park, B.C. and San Carlos, Mexico, 2 grandchildren Jamie Murphy of Vancouver, B.C. and Michelle Hawthorne of Niagara-on-the-Lake and 2 great grandchildren, Matthew and Sophia Hawthorne. He was preceded by his wife Mary Kathleen (Maisie) Barkey. Cremation services will be conducted by Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home and the ashes will be intered at St. Mary’s Cemetery. We would like to thank all the Staff of Woods Park Care Centre and Dr. M. McConvey for their kindness and attention to Dad during his final years.
