Peacefully passed with family by his side in Barrie on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 at the age of 98 years. Beloved husband for 77 years of Theresa (née McNamara). Loving father of Sharon Preen (Mike), Daniel (Risa) the late Frances (Howard McFadden) and Michael (Donna). Much loved grandfather of Paul Lalumiere, Penny Light, Jeffrey Preen, Jennifer Hurley (née Preen), Katherine Lochart (née McFadden) Laura Musal (née McFadden), Alex McFadden (Laura). Great grandchildren who gave him so much joy, Benjamin and Grace Preen, Olivia Hurley, Nolan and Spencer Musal, William Garden, Leila, Logan and Lincoln McFadden and Cartel Cutler. Predeceased by his parents Amie Lalumiere and Albertine “Bertha”. Dear brother of Gerry (Donna), Patricia (Tom McNamara) the late Marie (Joseph Desroches), Betty (Donald Fitzgerald), Eva (Lionel Lortie), Estella (Kenneth McInnis), Peter (Muriel), Henry (June), Herman (Rita) and Ted (Marie).

A self taught carpenter, Frank built their first home in Highland point and later the family home in Barrie from hand digging the foundation to the finishing including every unique cupboard mom could fill.

Frank was a proud police officer with Tiny township and later with the Barrie Police and completed his career as a much respected and loved Staff Sargent.

Frank was an award winning sharpshooter, fisherman, avid golfer, gardener and orchard keeper, determined card player(your cards and his own!), forager of berries of all types.

He travelled the world with his wife Theresa, swam in the Amazon, experienced Australia, Mexico, Europe, Ireland, the Yukon, East and West coasts, Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii.

Ever generous with his time and talents from committee work at the Parkview Seniors Centre, driver with the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels, his involvement with the Knights of Columbus to teaching his children and Grandchildren the values, good judgement, and  humour we so loved him for… oh and how to bring home a fine catch of fish, he gave it all he had and more

His charm, huge infectious laugh, kindness, and steely determination  are his legacy and gift to all he touched.  He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, August 11th, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place the following day on Monday, August 12th, 2024 at 10 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie.
