Peacefully slipped away on October 31 in his 93rd year. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife of more than 66 years, Patricia (nee Whittall). Loving father of: Nancy (Gord) Skultety, Sharon (Bill) Chapman, Greg (Susan) Weeks. Cherished grandfather to Cindy, Kelly, Matthew, Beth, Paul, John and Amy. Loving great grandfather to 10 children. Pre-deceased by his brother Ted (Marjorie) of Dartmouth, uncle to Teddy and Joey. Dear friend of Madge Duffy. Geoff was born in Dartmouth, NS. He served in the Air Force during WWII followed by a career at Maritime Tel&Tel. A move to Toronto led to a long and distinguished career at Bell Canada. He enjoyed his family, skiing, sailing, golf, cottage life and airplanes. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him for his friendly nature, sense of humour, great smile, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. Funeral with reception to follow will be held in Barrie on Friday November 9 at 2pm, at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home 30 Worsley St. A Celebration of Life will be held in Thornbury on Saturday November 10 from 2-4pm at First Baptist Church, 72 Bruce St. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made in Geoff’s memory to the Salvation Army.
