Barks, George
The family of George Samuel Barks announces the death of their beloved father in Barrie, Ontario on July 16, 2011.
He was born in Edam, Saskatchewan on February 24th, 1930. He married Philomena Kelly in Derby, Derbyshire, England in 1957. He was the son of the late Samuel and Gladys (nee Bates) Barks of Derby. George was predeceased by his brother Edward and Sarah Ann. He is survived by brother William (June) Barks, and Robert (late Hazel) Barks of the United Kingdom.
The focus of his life and reason for living was his wife Philomena who passed away three weeks earlier. He was never happier than when surrounded by family.
Beloved Father of Sheila and her husband Randy Cleroux of Sudbury, Stephen Barks and his wife Brenda of Springwater, David Barks and his wife Laura of Midland, Helen and her husband Martin Kuhn of Hillsdale, and Mark Barks and his wife Maria of Barrie. Loving and Loved Granddad of Eve and Sarah Cleroux of Sudbury, Christopher, Andrew and Aaron Barks of Springwater, Michael Barks and his wife Sarah of Barrie, Alex Barks of Midland, and Maeve and Isabella Kuhn of Hillsdale.
Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home 30 Worsley St. (705-721-9921), Barrie from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, July 19. Complete Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie on Wednesday July 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
If so desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, the Heart and Stroke Fund or the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation.
