We are sad to announce the sudden passing of George D’Ambrosio at Barrie, ON on May 5th, 2022 at the age of 97 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Paul, Joy, Michael and Margo, his 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Helene and his beloved daughter Lisa (at age 18).

George was born on October 16th, 1924 in Balsorano, Italy, one of eight children of Vincenzo and Stefana D’Ambrosio, who emigrated and made Barrie their home in the 1920’s.

George was hard-working and dedicated to his career and family. He worked in the same building for 51 years and progressed into management, initially with Clarke & Clarke Leathers, which became Tandy Leathers, which then became Radio Shack. He took two years off to serve in the military and was a proud Army Veteran.

Recently, George was feeling well and in good spirits having just relocated to a new retirement home where he was enjoying seeing some old friends, making some new ones and getting back to pre-Covid times playing euchre and participating in the many social activities the home offered.

Family and friends are invited to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie., on Monday, May 9th, 2022 at 9:30 am for visitation and 10:30 for the Service. Reception to follow inside the lower lounge.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in his name would be much appreciated. Online condolences and memories may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com
