Passed peacefully with his family by his side at Georgian Bay Hospital, Midland on May 12th, 2022 at the age of 80. Survived by his wife Shirley Harper. Predeceased by his first wife Doreen Anderson in 2005, and by his grand daughter Kayla in 1990. Honoured father of Susan Matson (Russell), Barbara MacNay (Gordon), and Sheila Tilotta (Biagio). Cherished Papa of Holly Gillmore (Ricky), Daniel Mulholland (Nicole), Jama Maxie, Cameron Mulholland (Angela), Megan Matson, Cole Matson, Rae Richards (Chelsea), Madisyn MacNay (Danny), Amberley MacNay, Jackson MacNay, Anthony Tilotta (Kristen), Caitlin Tilotta (Brad), and Great Papa to Kailynn, Kyla, Mason, Bentley, Oakley, Paisleigh, Ava, Amelia, Hayley, Emmett, Sophia, and Lexie.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, ON on Sunday, May 15th, 2022 from 2 – 4 P.M. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, May 16th at 1 P.M., followed by interment at Barrie Union Cemetery. At the family’s request, masks must be worn by all guests while within the facility. Those unable to attend in person are welcome to join the service via livestream. If desired, donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the RVH Cancer Care Unit and are greatly appreciated by the family.
