Passed peacefully at I.O.O.F. Barrie on March 6, 2016 in his 90th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Evylina (Ball). Honoured father of Gerald (Sandy), Brian (Laura), Stephen (Jennifer) and the late Marilyn. Cherished grandfather of Adam (Jennifer), Derek (Laura), Meagan, Kevin and Benjamin. Loving great-grandfather of Sophia, Clara, and the late Simon and the late Nicholas. Predeceased by his brothers Harold, Howard, Lloyd and George, and sisters Winnifred, Beatrice and Edna. Gerald served in the Canadian Armed Forces and became a lifelong member and was active on the Board of Directors at the Army, Navy and Airforce Club in Barrie. He worked for 35 years with the Barrie Public Utilities Commission and enjoyed a long and leisurely retirement full of travel, family and friends. Memorial arrangements have been entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Road, Barrie. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at RVH or Cystic Fibrosis Canada and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
