Galle, Giuseppe (Joe)

Passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 at the age of 83 at his home with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Antonia (nee Manno) Galle, (who joyfully celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on December 11th).  Loving father of Ralph (Christie) Galle and Cathy (Craig Orieux).  Cherished grandfather of Jonah, Ethan, Grace and Isabella.   Giuseppe will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Raffaele and Maria (nee Cartalano) Galle and siblings Biago (Teresa), Frank (Bruna), Carmelo (Assunta), Nicola (Tomissina) Galle and Sara (Vincenzo) Malvaso.

Our deepest appreciation to Joe’s brother-in-law Giuseppe Manno, whose caring and selfless actions assisted Joe each day with his physical and mental needs, as well as, and more importantly continuing to offer his friendship to help Joe through each day.

Born in 1938 in Serra San Bruno, Italy, Joe immigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Barrie in 1961.  Chances are, that if you were a child in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s or 90’s in Barrie, you will have sat in Joe’s barber chair at either Joe Galle’s Hairstyling at the Wellington Plaza or Gentleman’s Choice in the Georgian Mall.  He adored his business and profession, both because it satisfied his love for the trade but more so his passion to socialize with the most loyal of customers to the 2 year old receiving his/her first haircut. It was evident that what had started up as a business and a job, transitioned to hobby until his retirement in 2016.

However, Joe’s love for his family trumped all other things in his life.  His loving way was shown in simple gestures, simple comments, a simple helping hand.  That will be what all his friends, relatives and family will most remember Joe by.

Our Family sends our love to all those that helped Joe and our family through his illness. We feel obliged to recognize, Dr. Steven Porier, Kailee Rodgers (NP), Heather Hughes (RPN), Anne-Marie Sampson-Rauf (PSW), and all at the Midhurst Pharmasave.

Arrangements entrusted to Steckley Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie. Friends are invited to join the family for a funeral service that will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11 o’clock – St. Mary’s Church - 65 Amelia Street, Barrie, ON L4M 1M7, followed by the interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barrie. If so desired, donations may be made to the Barrie Food Bank or Hospice Simcoe.

Condolences
