AINSWORTH, Gladys Mae (nee Howe)

Born in Armagh, Northern Ireland in 1927, Gladys moved to Toronto with her family when she was three years old. While there were many struggles after immigrating to Canada, the family remained strong in their devotion and love for one another, upholding a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. As a young woman, Gladys met Donald, the love of her live, and they married in 1950. Their two daughters Julie and Lisa were born and this new family enjoyed many happy times together. In 1973, Don was diagnosed with leukemia at the young age of 45 and passed away in November, leaving those who loved him to terribly miss and grieve him. In the almost 50 years that followed, Gladys found fulfillment in her career as an Executive Assistant in several health organizations, as well as in her family. The arrival of each new grandchild and great-grandchild brought immense joy, and her love for them was evident until her last day.

At 96 years of age, Gladys of Barrie passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in the loving presence of her daughters.
