Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie Ontario after a lengthy illness and complications due to Post Polio Syndrome (PPS) on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the age of 70. Beloved daughter of Vera Kumpula (nee Marchbank) and the late Lauri “Larry” Kumpula. Dear sister of Kelly Brenda Kumpula and the late Allan Kumpula. Loving Aunt of Cassandra, Karen, Joanna and Jay. Forever remembered and dearly missed by the love of her life Patrick LaGrandeur, relatives, church community and dear friends.

Gloria was an intelligent, sophisticated, loyal, kind and beautiful person with a wonderful sense of humour and a smile that lit every room she graced. Her children were her beloved pet dogs Skippy and Prince, and she had a deep love of nature, caring for the plants in her greenhouse and sailing along the sunshine coast of beautiful British Colombia. Gloria was fortunate to be able to enjoy the passions in her life and to find peace with her Saviour.

An informal celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home 201 Minet’s Point Road, Barrie on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8 pm with a brief eulogy at 6:30pm. Flowers are welcome and donations in Gloria’s memory can be made to Post-Polio Canada https://www.marchofdimes.ca/EN/programs/PolioCanada/Pages/default.aspx . The family would like to shed light on Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS), a newly emerging disease that is occurring in some polio survivors. Online condolences may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com.
