Peacefully passed away at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie on Saturday June 23, 2018 at the age of 67. Beloved husband and best friend of Jane for 42 years. Dear father of Leanna Lewis (Michael), and Amy Barnes (Luke). Proud grandpa of Nora, Peter, Una May, and Clara. Survived and loved by sisters Lynn Wilkes (Brian), and Maryanne Barnes (Steve) and brothers John Barnes (Lynn), Wayne Barnes, and Steve Barnes (Cathy). Lovingly remembered by mother-in-law Eileen Merritt, and brothers and sisters-in-law Evan and Anne, and Elaine and George. Sadly missed and never forgotten by other dear family members and close friends. Gord’s family was his focus although he had many interests he enjoyed including his memberships at the Barrie Curling Club and Bear Creek Golf. Guests will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie on Thursday July 5, 2018 from 7 pm to 9 pm. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Gord’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday July 7, 2018 starting at 2 pm with reception to follow. Visitation will be available one hour prior to the service starting at 1 pm. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Gord’s memory may be made to Hospice Simcoe or the charity of your choice.
