Saso, Grace Maria (Greco)

Passed away peacefully in Toronto on September 10th, 2009. Daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Greco. Predeceased by her husband Anthony (1969). Devoted mother of John (Margaret Skelly) of Toronto, Joe (Carol) of Windsor and Tana Arthurs of Port Loring. Loving grandmother of Michael Saso (Elizabeth) of Ottawa, Katherine Lott (John) of Toronto, Jessica and Stephanie Saso of Windsor, Kristen Arthurs of Oakville, and James Arthurs of London. Great grandmother of Adam and Emily Saso, and Madison and Spencer Lott. Predeceased by her sister Frances Badali and brother Anthony Greco. Survived by her sister-in-law Lena Greco (nee Badali) and many loving nieces and nephews. After emigrating from Trabia, Sicily and Jeanette, Pennsylvania, Grace lived most of her life in Barrie, Ontario, the last of a brave generation of community leaders and builders. Her many friends in Barrie remember her as a loyal friend, great neighbour, keen business woman, and cagey but sometimes reckless bridge player. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. Grace was a noble woman of intense faith. Most notably, she cherished her family and her Italian heritage, dedicating her life to both. Special thanks to the staff at Leisureworld Ellesmere 3B where Grace resided for the past two and a half years. Friends may call on Monday, September 21 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street in Barrie, Ontario. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary’s Church, Barrie.
