Suddenly but peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 at the age of 52 years. Beloved son of Doris Jean (née Odd) and the late Maurice Mitchell of Barrie. Baby brother to Stanley (BC) and Teresa of Orillia. Uncle to Nicholas (Kerry) Mitchell of Chilliwack BC and Molly (Tim) Forget of Port McNicoll. Great Uncle to Brodie, Sophia, Heidi, Erza, Olivia, Tori, Curtis, Mikayla, Conner, Alexander, Anthony and Mason. Will be missed by many cousins, and many friends who considered Grant part of their family. Grant’s love of the “toys” resulted in a tight and loving friendship with cousin Christopher, and their bond was one of brothers more than cousins. Special Thanks to Al & Sherry Dwyer for their deep friendship and love of 20 years with Grant; we are grateful you were part of his life and you always had his back.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday April 15, 2023, from 12pm to 3pm at Liberty North, 100 Caplan Avenue Barrie. Please join our family in celebrating our beloved and cherished Grant, who had to leave us too soon but left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and is loved and missed by so many. We hope you will share your stories of Grant, so we can feel the love and true friendship he experienced over his life, and his memory and legacy will live on. A private family service graveside at Barrie Union Cemetery. Donations in Grant’s memory can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Georgian Skilled Trades Bursary or a charity of your choice and are greatly appreciated by the family.
