Grant and Donna Reynar of Barrie, Ontario sadly both passed away at Hospice Simcoe after a
long fight with cancer. Donna (70) passed on November 28th, Grant (74) passed 10 hours later
on November 29th. Their undying love for each other carried with them even in death. Their
will to live is something that will live forever in those who were blessed enough to have
known them.
Grant was a retired teacher and an Officer in the Air Cadet program. He had a massive impact
on students and cadets alike.
Donna was a retired nurse who influenced many people through her gentle, caring ways and
her never ending passion for nursing.
Both had an amazing gift for bringing out the best of any situation. When times were tough
you could often hear Grant say “If you get lemons, then make lemonade”. Donna often would
quote from the poem “Don’t Quit” which she got from her father during nursing school. As
parents they gave their children the love of learning and the importance of family. They
always lived life to the fullest in good and bad.
Grant and Donna are survived by their children Glenn (Rosemarie) and Stephen (Nicole),
grandchildren Kevin and Katie (Glenn and Rosemarie) and Robert, Amy and Alexander
(Stephen and Nicole). Donna is also survived by her mother (Dorothy), older brother Alex
and 2 younger sisters Dianne and Lynn.
Family and friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet's
Point Road, Barrie, Ontario, on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. Visitation will also
take place on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel
at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Simcoe, RVH Cancer Care Centre
or the OSPCA would be greatly appreciated by the family. Memories and condolences may be
