Passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, on February 23, 2025 at the age of 47. Loving wife of John Bishop. Honoured mother of Byranna Dougherty (Logan), and Hudson Bishop. Cherished grandmother of Brayden Deese. Beloved daughter of the late Douglas Deese and Sharlie McRaney (Ron). Dear sister of Debra Durhan (Jason), aunt of Savannah Durham, Ayden Young, and Camdyn Young. Daughter-in-law of Jennifer Bishop (the late Conway), and sister-in-law of Laurie-Ann Young (Adam).
Heather loved life and get-togethers with her cherished family and friends. Many memorable times were spent in Arizona with her mother and Ron, weekend visits to “Nanny’s Cottage”, or just visiting farmer’s markets. She loved cooking – especially barbequing, smoking, and canning – and being able to share her passions with the people closest to her. She could simply enjoy the moment and get lost in her arts and crafts projects, or with some knitting or crocheting. More than anything though, Heather will be remembered for her strength. Throughout her 5-year fight with cancer, she never wanted anyone to worry or feel that they needed to care for her any differently. “Let me do it myself” was almost always her response. Despite fighting a losing battle with cancer, she will always be remembered as a true warrior.
Private family arrangements have been entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. If desired, donations in Heather's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and are greatly appreciated by the family.
