It is with broken hearts that we share the news that our beloved Helen (nee Sheridan) daughter of Frank and Loretta, sister of Bill, cherished wife of Peter, devoted mother of Cassy (Frank), Angela (Carl) and Brenna (Shayne) and loving Grandma of Jessica (Edward) has sadly been called home to retire in paradise

Helen was born in Orillia, raised in Angus and built her life with Peter in Barrie. They met in 1965 while in high school at Central Collegiate and married young.

They raised three daughters and loved time with family more than anything else in the world. Throughout the years she worked part time at the Bus Terminal and Dominion.

When the girls were raised and on their way she began full time work in Base Borden so she could be closer to her aging Mom when she needed her and when she left Borden it was to care for her Mom until she was called home in 2012.

Unfortunately, less than 10 years later Helen was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and began her 5-year dementia battle.

She made friends easily and would help anyone. She loved her family and her faith more than anything else in this world and worked hard every day of her life.

She will be sadly missed by her in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins and by all that knew and loved her

She is forever grateful to her family and the loving care she received from all of the staff at Grove Park Home.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass to honour Helen will take place at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at 10 am. Guests are invited to remain for a reception following the Mass inside the Church Hall. A Livestream of the Funeral Mass will be made available on the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Facebook page. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County and are greatly appreciated by the family.
