ABSPOEL, Hendrik “Hank”
Passed peacefully while surrounded by his family at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie on October 23, 2023 at the age of 96. Predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa Abspoel in 2014. Honoured father of Anne Ripley (Wayne), Yolanda Abspoel, Ellen Brann (Mike), and Jeff Abspoel (Lloydene). Cherished grandfather of Shawn Brann (Becky), Tiffany Everett, Carly Munshaw (Shawn), Jeremy Everett, and great-grandfather of Hendrik Brann, Shae Munshaw, Oliver Brann, and Miley Munshaw.
Hank’s smile, humour, and compassion for others will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 6 – 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 11 AM at St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon from 12 – 1:30 PM. Cremation to follow, with a private family interment at a later date.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for the extraordinary compassion and care provided to Hank.
