SEITZ, HENRY NICHOLAS
October 30, 1923 - August 8, 2017
Henry passed away peacefully at his home in Collier Place, Barrie on August 8th, 2017. Beloved father of Margo, Virginia, Mark, Rebecca (Seitz) and loving step-father to Heather, Rod (deceased), and Frank (Stirling). He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many family friends.

For those who had the pleasure of meeting Henry, his gentle nature and inquisitive mind would have no doubt left you charmed. Born in Kendal, Saskatchewan and raised on a prairie farm, Henry was a proud WW2 veteran, serving as a Lance Corporal at Base Borden. A long-time model aircraft builder and flyer, he competed in many model aircraft shows and enjoyed visiting local air fields whenever he got the chance.

A voracious reader and loyal Barrie Film Festival supporter, he loved exploring the world through travel, books, and film, excitedly making conversation around world events and new technology (whether or not he knew how to use it!).

An avid golf player, he took to Cedar Links Golf Club like a pro. Proud to be their oldest player, he competed against Cedar Links’ youngest player (Weston, 3) in a CTV Barrie special last year, and was quite a natural in front of the camera.

He enjoyed floor curling with his team at Park View Place, and attending Sunday mass and social functions at Collier United Church. A gifted master handyman, he was always working on a handmade contraption or tinkering with anything that broke.

Whether sky diving at 75 and zip lining at 90, Henry’s playful spirit was always up for new adventure. Never afraid to play dirty at billiards, he loved a good steak (as long as his teeth would allow it he would say) and appreciated life to the fullest without a single complaint.

Henry is forever in our hearts, we are so grateful for the wonderful memories and time we got to share together.

Visitation for Henry Seitz will be at STECKLEY-GOODERHAM Funeral Home (30 Worsley Street, Barrie ON) on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23 from 1 - 2 pm. (www.steckleygooderham.com/obituaries/Henry-Seitz/) Service from 2 - 3pm. Reception will follow 3 - 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Women’s and Children’s Shelter Barrie (barrieshelter.com/make-a-donation/).

Condolences
