Roach, Isobel Edmond (McGarry) On Wednesday, March 29th, 2017, after a week at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Isobel passed away as a result of a stroke on March 22nd. Beloved wife of Robert Charles Roach, dear mother of Robert (Ellen), Thomas (Catherine), Grandmother to Sarah (Patrick), Andrea (Peter), Hayley, Molly and Brendan, and Great Grandmother to Jade and Agnes. Born in Niagara Falls in 1930 to Scottish parents, she lived in Niagara Falls until 1938 when her family moved back to Scotland because of the better employment opportunities. When World War II began, they returned to Niagara Falls during the U-boat threat. After school, Isobel trained in fashion, pattern making, designing and tailoring in Toronto. In 1956 she married Robert in Niagara Falls and in 1971 they moved to Barrie with their two sons Robert and Thomas. Isobel is remembered for her gentle disposition, her love of birding, nature and environmental action, gardening, art, sewing, music and genealogy. She was a talented artist and we treasure her drawings and paintings, many of which were displayed (and sold) at various art events. She was an active member of the Barrie Art Club, a volunteer at the Royal Victoria Auxiliary and the Canadian Diabetes Association, and enjoyed regular outings to listen to jazz. We will miss you Isobel. Isobel’s visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. and the service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8th at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario L4M 1L4, followed by a Reception.

Condolences
