Trask, James Emerson - ¬ It is with profound sadness that the family of Emmy Trask announces his passing on Friday, July 31st, 2015, at the fabulous age of 90. Emmy was the cherished Husband of 65 years to Orma (McLean), devoted Dad to Debbie Rinas (Richard) and Craig (John Frederickson). Loving Grandpa to Kurtis Rinas (Jennie), and Kristopher Rinas (Stacey) and Great Grandpa to Avery and Payton Rinas. Emmy is survived by his sister Margaret MacDonald and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Catherine (Taylor), Sisters Edith (Jones) and Marie (Lemmon) and Brothers George, Archie and Alex. Born in Barrie, proudly raised in Allandale, Emmy was goalie for the 1942-43 O.M.H.A. Juvenile B Champions. He served overseas in WWII (1944-46) first with the 18th Armored Car Regiment and then with the Occupation Army – 13th battery of the Royal Canadian Artillery. Back in Canada he served with the Grey & Simcoe Foresters and was a member of the Legion Branch 147. His lifelong profession/passion was driving. He was a tractor trailer driver for CN and later office Manager for Hoar Transport/CN Route. He will be missed by many dear friends from his church family at Bethel, square dancing days, East End neighbours, exercise classes, and card playing buddies. He was truly blessed to have been so active and healthy right to the end. His infectious smile and mischievous wink will be sorely missed.
A celebration of Emmy’s life will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home 30 Worsley St. Barrie on Friday, Aug. 7th with visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:30 p.m., followed by interment at Barrie Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences and memories may be forward through www.steckleygooderham.com
