James Richard Taylor

Peacefully on November 19th at Hospice Simcoe. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Marr) Taylor. Loving father of Karen (Dan), Bill, Tim (Karen), Julie (Craig), Johnny (Shannon) and the late Kevin. Proud grandfather of Jim, Kristen, Jeffrey, Sadie, Ashley, Billy, Brendan, Jordan, Jacob, Sydney, Jessica, Cameron, Brooklyn and great grandfather of Forrest, Charlie, Carter, Owen, Scarlett, Lawson, and Adalynn. Dear brother of Carol Monaghan, and the late Bill and Bob Taylor. Will be sadly missed by many extended family members and friends.

Jim was born in Miami Florida and raised in Scarborough. Jim and Phyl were married on December 28th, 1957 at St. Clare’s Church in Toronto, then moved to Barrie where they raised their family. Jim has been a member of St. John Vianney Parish since 1965. After retirement from Northern Telecom (Nortel) in 1991, he joined the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was an active volunteer until recent years. In keeping with his kind and generous nature, Jim was on the original Steering Committee of Out of the Cold in Barrie. Jim was also a proud life member of the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral Mass will take place at the St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Ln., Barrie, on Saturday November 25th at 11:00 am followed by a reception inside the Parish Hall.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, or Hospice Simcoe.
